Alexander McQueen Pre-fall 2013

I may be a bit late off the mark here but I've been meaning to post this since February 12th and it's enough procrastination from me.

I'm not sure sexy and vampiric were meant as the words to instantly come to mind at this piece but it is absolutely GORGEOUS. the contrast of colours is striking and the flounced hem perfectly shows off the splash of crimson.
I'm not even going to begin to explain how much I love this piece .. and those SLEEVES!
Stepped right out of a painting, if I do say so myself :)
This is gorgeous, taking on elements( the bust-line and 'netted' effect for instance) in particular of recent high street fashion and yet turning it into something so much more.

It is, of course, no huge secret that I'm a huge fan of monochromatic clothing and with a splash of sexy deep crimson- even better!
I'm not going to say too much about this collection except that Sarah Burton certainly went to new levels to upkeep the McQueen signature style.
The collection is a mix of Gothic-chic and religion-ism ( is that the word?) that seems archaic and innocent yet beautiful. The lines are long and lean much like priestly clothing and yet somehow Burton has managed to make such beautiful, elegant pieces out of such innocent religious inspiration.

Welcome into my life you pretty, pretty thing...

Today one of the most perfect packages I've ever received came to my doorstep whilst I was at college and , after the lovely R paid the hidden VAT, I'm now the proud owner of an extremely sexy Canon 7D, my newest extension of my life. I feel like I've had a child delivered to my door or something- the excitement is indescribable.

I can't wait to spend hours and hours learning all the unknown nooks & crannies to this unknown camera body. It's far heavier then my modest Canon 450D.. I only hope I'll learn to love it as much as I do in my mind.

Looking forward to posting my first photographs taken with the 7D

On a slightly more sour note... I feel absolutely AWFUL!! my throat is throbbing and I can't stop coughing; my lungs feels sore! I highly hope I feel okay tomorrow morning or I might have to crawl back to bed with cough medicine and a cup of soothing tea :(

Till next time though :)

BAFTA's 2013 best dressed :)

And the time for BAFTA's arrived - our beautiful home-grown Oscars :P
I've never been one to watch award shows before- Actually, I've never even known when they've been on before but this year I had the sudden urge to start watching the awards and seeing all the stars in their beautiful ensembles on the red carpet and last night, I wasn't let down in the slightest.

These are COMPLETELY my own opinions and I can almost guarantee that people won't agree but please don't be nasty if you do disagree.

One of the most controversial choices on the red carpet seemed, not to be clothing choice at all, but the hair of Dame Helen Mirren

This may be my opinion alone but I think it looks absolutely lovely - Perhaps a bit shocking but Helen certainly has the face to pull this daring choice off. I think the subtle pink tone is elegant and a brighter tone won't have had quite the same elegance.

Moving on to the clothing choices of the stars:-

Thandie Newton looks absolutely stunning in this Louis Vuitton black lace dress paired with a Louis Vuitton purse and (I'm guessing) heels. The crimson lipstick breaks up all the black beautifully and adds a sexy undercurrent to her ensemble. Black lace is one of my all time favourites, as has become quite obvious within previous posts, and once again it doesn't disappoint :)

bafta red carpet style

Marion Cotillard looks gorgeous in this s/s13 Dior dress although I am not a fan at all of the neon yellow colouring. The colour looks slightly lemon curd-like and that's never exactly aesthetically pleasing. I've never been much for yellow and on a gown quite like this it seems rather an eye-sore. Perhaps a lovely shade of crimson or a deep teal- perhaps even a rich pink. Once again, I feel I can say that these are  my opinions alone and don't berate me for them :P I'm not exactly how the world will take the dress either with it's 'confusing' design. After looking at hundreds of photographs of fabric manipulation I quite like the design although it's not the best execution of such a design.

Amy Adams - Once again choosing the elegance of black lace in a beautiful cut-out Elie Saab design. The bun up-do is a beautiful accompaniment indeed. Perhaps the neckline is slightly too high for the petite frame of Amy Adams and her accompanying petite bust.

best red carpet style fashion …

Juno Temple is definitely one of the most beautiful dressed of the night, choosing to wear white, unlike many of the other stars of the evening. The gown in question is a Stella McCartney design paired with a vintage clutch and red nail-polish. I only wish she'd chosen a crimson lipstick to match her nails as that would have been an absolutely gorgeous ensemble. Also the dress seems to be slightly too long and the accessories are a bit lacking - Where's the bracelets? a couple of bangles even? I'm not a huge fan of the clutch either but then again I'm not a fan of any bag that isn't big enough to at least fit a pair of shoes inside so I may be slightly biased :P

Jessica Chastain wearing this blue Roland Mouret was by far the best dressed in my opinion. The royal blue colouring is absolutely gorgeous and the asymmetric design compliments miss Chastains' figure so well although the hem looks slightly odd to me - rather unfinished :/

Thee were, of course, many others out there looking brilliant- Including some very fine men, pulling out all the  stops :)

DIsney Princess and Mulan inspired fashion and photography

Yesterday R and I watched Mulan, one of my all time favourite Disney films, and it filled my head with inspiration for photo-shoots and art work. There's something about the movie that is the perfect mix of Disney music, emotion and girl-meets warrior and I find the whole movie beautiful- especially considering it was made when I was a mere 4 years old.

I was always a bit of a wimp growing up, in fact, I still am :P I have kaboodles of Disney video's but somehow I always seem to go back to the same ones if I'm in the mood for childhood reminiscence - Mulan, Pocahontas, The little mermaid - Nothing with anything that has what I consider TOO much unhappiness; such as the creepy green pathway through the fireplace scene in sleeping beauty, or the creepy old woman/witch part in snow white and the seven dwarves or even Bambi- no explanation needed :( etc.

Some of my ideas include huge, elaborate photo-shoots based on not only Mulan and all the different styles and persona's to her character but of other Disney princesses too, but then a whole other photo-shoot based on the male Disney characters I grew to love growing up and , in some case, counterparts to the beautiful girls too, such as ; Peter Pan, Robin hood, Mowgli from The Jungle Book, the beast from Beauty and the Beast would be a completely interesting one to do, Aladdin, Hercules Tarzan.. oh the list goes on.

I know MANY of you will have heard/seen the following MONTHS ago when it first came to light but for those who didn't- These dresses below were created for Harrods 2012 Christmas windows. some of the biggest names out there helped in the creation of the window including the likes of Versace, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta and Elie Saab. The photographs were taken by the talented Jason Ell :)

A beautiful modern interpretation of a classic

What a gorgeous deep-blue silk dress!

This is breath taking- the whole beautiful image AS WELL AS the gorgeous pale pink dress

Accompanying these BEAUTIFUL photographs are the amazing designs for the dresses themselves and even a few pictures of the display windows themselves as well as this exclusive video that is a must-watch HERE

Over the next few weeks I will take a look into different Disney characters and inspired art, photography and  fashion as well as concepts and ideas for photo-shoots and art work. I'll try do a character every couple of days for the next months; and perhaps even a few NON Disney characters such as one of my COMPLETE AND UTTER favourites- Anastasia!!

Coming up later today hopefully will be my Mulan post as I think this is enough beauty for one post :)

Who is your favourite? Did you happen to see the window display in December?
What are your favourite Disney characters and why? Let me know- I'd love to hear :)
